- How do I check when my MOT is due?

- Is the MOT history check really free?

- What does an MOT advisory mean?
- An advisory is a fault that is not yet serious enough to fail the test but is likely to need attention soon, such as brake pads wearing thin or tyres approaching the legal tread limit. Repeated or ignored advisories in a car's history can signal poor maintenance.
- What happens if I drive without an MOT?
- Driving a vehicle without a valid MOT can lead to a fine of up to £1,000, and most insurance policies are invalidated without one. If the vehicle is found to be in a dangerous condition, the fine can rise to £2,500 plus three penalty points.
- Which vehicles are MOT exempt?
- Vehicles under three years old do not need an MOT yet, and most vehicles over 40 years old that have not been substantially modified are exempt. You can confirm any vehicle's status by running a free check.
